True this
What's your favorite 100-year old comic strip? Mine is The Outbursts of Everett True. It's a two-panel strip. Mr. True gets irritated in panel one and beats the crap out of the object of his irritation in panel 2. Really, what more do you need? More info here, but the first link is all you really need.

Hi there. You scared the crap out of me.
I've only seen a few episodes, but I can honestly say it's more than a cheap Simpsons rip off.
For example, it has more Randy Newman references than any other cartoon I know ( family guy 1, all others 0). Check out the Family Guy multimedia archive for a taste. If you don't like that, then check out NWA's Fuck the Police with all the non-rude words removed.

Johnny Ryan's Angry Youth Comix
Um, Garfield got dropped from the LA times. Columnist Gene Weingarten described Garfield as "a strip devoid of originality, devoid of guts, a strip cynically DESIGNED to be inoffensive and bad, on the theory that public tastes are insipid. Whoa, Gene. What about Garfeld ? Also, if you've ever wanted to see Linus smack Charlie Brown in the face with his balls, "Peanuds" is the closest you'll come.

The Don Martin Dictionary -- Alphabetical Listing
Cool list of Don Martin's sound effect words along with their contexts. It only lists those words in the magazine and not elsewhere, so it's not comprehensive. I distinctly remember reading the word "Zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeem" (a man falling) in one of the Captain Klutz books when I was in elementary school. If only it were a joke!

Bible lesson for today
Nimrod was a great hunter from the old testament. So, why is calling someone a Nimrod an insult? Blame Daffy Duck.
